CD50® is an oil timber preservative for interior and exterior use,
designed to penetrate deeply into any species of timber, and protect
the timber from within.
CD50® gives resistance against decay, rot, fungus, mould and termites.
It provides water repellency and controls warping, cupping and splitting
of the timber, known technically as "dimensional stability".
CD50® is a clear product, and when used on timber alone, the timber
will silver with age to produce a natural weathered appearance.
CD50®'s specially formulated Colourtones can be added to the clear
product to enhance and maintain the natural timber character and colour.
Colourtones are available in a wide range of colours .
CD50® works deep in the timber and is not a surface film forming product.
It will not crack, peel or flake.
CD50® was developed in New Zealand and contains the broad spectrum
highly effective fungicide Copper 8 Quinolinolate. "Copper 8"
is stable to ultra-violet light which is an important consideration
in high UV areas such as New Zealand.
CD50® when applied to timber, has little or no mammalian toxicity
and is suitable for use on wood that has incidental contact with food.
As a liquid, CD50® is very low in toxicity and is rated as a non-hazardous
product.
How to use CD50® Liquid Art
The surface must be free of sealants, coatings, or barriers on the
surface, which could prevent CD50® penetrating deep into the timber.
This includes paints, stains and oils.
The timber must have a moisture content of no more than 17 %.
The surface must be clean and free of mould and stains before application.
If necessary, clean first with either SARA-CLEAN
or WAY2GO .
CD50® - with or without Colourtone added - is applied to the timber,
and a second coat is applied a minimum of four weeks later. Further
applications may be required after 2 - 6 years depending on the porosity
of the timber, and the exposure to the weather and sunlight.
CD50® is very easy to apply - by spray, brush, speed brush or roller.
CD50® can be used on new or old timber, on tanalised timber and
plywood.
